As promised, today I have a sneak peek from my shows at the weekend featuring Trudie Howards’s new stamps as part of the Sentimentally Yours Anniversary with Hochanda.
The theme is Under the Sea and this card features stamps from the Mermaid set, the Ocean Extras and a new stencil –
It’s been ages since I made a stepper card. This is the first of 2 that I’ve made for this weekend.
I started by making some backgrounds – I added some SY Watercolour Blending Brush Pens from Set 2 to my SY Blending Mat, misted with water and picked the ink onto 2 pieces of Bockingford Card. I actually did one colour at a time to keep the colours a bit more separated, drying the card between each colour.
Once the ink was dry, I popped the new SY Layered Scales Stencil on top of one background and spread some SY Sky Blue Ombre Blending Paste through it. I removed the stencil, turned it over and pressed it into my other background piece.
In a spare pot, I mixed together some SY Glitters – Cool Aqua, Peridot Paradise, Silver Dream, Totally Turquoise Glitter Alchemy and Blue Mist Sparkle Dust. I sprinkled this over some areas of my first background and set it aside to dry.
I stamped the mermaid from the SY Under the Sea : Mermaid Set onto Bockingford Card using Nocturne Versafine Clair. I also stamped some of the fish and shells from the set plus some fish and sells from the Ocean Extras Set.
I cut them all out and coloured them in using SY Watercolour Blending Brush Pens Set 2.
Once my main background was 100% dry, I cut a SY Double Debossed Rounded Corner Rectangle from it. I edged with Broken China and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxides. I cut the next sized rectangle out of SY Cobalt Card.
For the stepper, I trimmed a piece of SY Almond Hue Card to 28cm long. Using my Cobalt rectangle to set the width of the left-hand side of my stepper, I drew a pencil line along the length the mark the width. On the other side, I scored at 3cm, 6cm, 10cm, 14cm and 21cm. I scored acrid the whole card along the 14cm line. Using a Craft Knife, I cut along the pencil line between the first and last score line and then folded my steps.
I added my rectangles to the left-hand side of my card and added my mermaid and some shells.
I added some Clear Star Stardust Pen to the little star on the mermaid’s head. I added Quickie Glue to the scales and along the lines on the mermaid’s tail and then added SY Rainbow Crystal Sparkle Dust.
For my steps, I trimmed some Cobalt Card to fit and matted on pieces of my second background which I edged with Chipped Sapphire Oxide.
I added my fish and shells. My sentiments are from the SY Boldtastic Sentiments, stamped using Nocturne Versafine Clair, cut out using SY Double Debossed Rounded Corner Squares and Rectangles and edged with Chipped Sapphire Oxide.
I completed my card by adding some of Phill’s brand new two tone pearls.
