Today’s project is on a Media Board that I had leftover from some workshops and features the Seahorses stamp set from Trudie Howard’s Under the Sea Collection –
I started by lightly covering the Media Board and the stand with IB White Gesso. I stripped one side of a piece of a cardboard box to reveal some of the corrugated texture and partly covered that with the Gesso too.
Next, I added some SY Sky Blue Ombre Blending Paste around the edges of the front of my Media Board using a sponge. I also dabbed some on the base. I made sure I added some around the outside edges of each piece too. I dried the pieces using my Heat Tool (you could leave them to dry naturally). I dabbed some SY Midnight Blue Paste onto the base and dragged some over my cardboard. I left the base to dry but heated the cardboard dry.
I popped the new Layered Scales Stencil onto my cardboard and dragged some SY Sky Blue Paste through the stencil, not all over, just some areas. I removed my stencil, pressed it onto another piece of card to remove the waste and then cleaned it. I then sprinkled my Glitter Mix used on this card over the wet paste (only over some of the paste) and set it aside to dry.
Next, I stamped the sea bed landscape, the seahorse and some bubbles from the SY Under the Sea : Seahorses Stamp Set onto Bockingford Card using Nocturne Versafine Clair. I also stamped some of the shells from the SY Under the Sea : Ocean Extras Stamp Set.
With these, I’ve tended to cut out and then colour. It’s personal choice. Do, however, make sure your ink is dry!
I coloured everything in using SY Watercolour Blending Brush Pens Set 2, pulling the colour out using Water Brushes from the set.
At this point, I didn’t glue my piece to my base as I wanted to decorate the back too.
Here’s a pic of the back – it’ll have its own day on the Blog soon.
I’ve popped pics of my samples into the Gallery Section of this Blog and into an album on my Julia Watts Crafts Facebook Page.
